A domestic cat from Utah was recently reunited with her parents after a nap in her favorite hideout turned into a 6-day nightmare.

The Calico Galena was mistakenly shipped — in the box it snuck into — all the way to a fulfillment center in Jurupa Valley, California.

Oh yeah, embodying the internet adage “If it fits, I sit,” Jalina was sitting inside an Amazon box, unaware that the shoes she was sharing were due for return.

Owners Carrier and Matt Clark love their cats as much as they love sitting in boxes. But her calm and collected demeanor got the better of her this time, and she needed all nine lives to survive in the box for 6 days without food or water.

Devoted Carrie said she was helped by three miracles. The first is that Matt didn't close the box perfectly, so Galina was able to breathe inside. The second is that the weather was not very hot at that time. The third was that only one person in the entire Amazon site knew how to handle such a situation: and she was working for returns.

Once she arrives in Jurupa Valley, she is discovered by an employee who in turn contacts their boss, Hunter Brandy – a revenue manager who also happens to love, foster, and rescue cats as a side gig. She showed up despite not being at work that day “with a cat carrier and some food.”

“She eventually warmed up to me and let me pet her,” Hunter said in her statement from Amazon. “I could tell she belonged to someone by the way she was acting, so I took her home that night.”

All this time, the Clarks family, who had witnessed their cat simply disappear without a trace, were in a state of extreme anxiety. They searched for hours around their home, put up fliers in their Lehi neighborhood, called friends and alerted neighbors, but in the end there was nothing that could be done.

Hunter eventually took Galina to a vet to make sure she recovered from her ordeal and to check for a microchip. Galina was microchipped, leading to a phone call that Carrie initially thought was a prank.

“Galina must have crept into the box without him seeing it and without us knowing, and then him [Matt] “I went back and taped the box back on,” Carrie Clark said. “She likes to hide in boxes, so she was very happy there. She didn't make any noise.”

Reuniting lost pets: The girl had been volunteering at a pet shelter for just two days when she was reunited with a kitten lost from childhood

“We literally had feelings of hysterical laughter and hysterical crying.” She told CNN. “They were so intense. It was the strangest emotion for both of them to feel at the same time.”

Hunter, a cat lover, asked Carrie if she could record the meeting after they flew to California to pick up Galena.

“This moment (and all the rest of her life with her family) would not have been possible without a microchip!” Hunter he wrote on a Facebook post. “While I certainly would have kept and loved her myself had she not been broken, her family would never have known what happened to her, and that thought breaks my heart.”

GNN reported how science showed that cats will find boxes to sit in even if the box itself is an optical illusion. There's a strange, if almost unbelievable, lesson in the story of Galena and the Amazon box: If you have to mail something large, check for fur before you send it.
