He added: “I take full responsibility for my role in this matter and will continue to cooperate with the necessary authorities. I sincerely apologize to everyone affected by Saturday's accident.”
Rice's statement comes after his attorney, Royce West, said this week that his client was “cooperating with authorities” after a multi-vehicle crash involving a vehicle linked to the 23-year-old was reported.
A preliminary investigation by Dallas Police found that the crash occurred when two speeding cars, a Lamborghini and a Corvette, lost control of the vehicle and “the Lamborghini struck the center wall and struck the center wall, causing a chain-reaction collision involving four other vehicles.”
“The occupants of the Lamborghini and Corvette all fled the scene without stopping to determine if anyone needed medical assistance or provide information,” police said. Two people were treated for minor injuries at the scene, while two others were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries, according to authorities.
Dallas Morning News mentioned on Sunday that one of the vehicles involved in the crash was “believed to be registered or leased to Rice.”
