Authorities in Highland Park (Illinois) have identified the suspect who killed six people and wounded two dozen others in a mass shooting during a parade this Monday. Independence Day Like 22-year-old Robert Grimeau, he was still considered “armed and dangerous.”
The man was driving a silver Honda, according to local police, who did not clarify whether the youth was from Highland Park or a nearby town.
“We have numerous federal, state and local agents working to apprehend this individual,” a local police spokeswoman told a news conference.
Authorities asked residents within four blocks of the firing zone to take cover until security forces evacuated.
Agents promised to release a photo of the suspect soon. They asked people not to try to approach him if they found him, but to call 911.
Police officials have not released a possible motive for the shooting.
