Alyssa Thomas was ejected for a foul on Angel Reese in the Sun-Sky game

Chicago Sky Rookie Angel Reese said before Saturday’s WNBA game that she’s looking forward to the showdown Connecticut SunAlyssa Thomas and Breonna Jones, who I watched when those two played at Maryland.

She didn’t have long to confront Thomas.

As Reese was going up for a rebound in the third quarter, Thomas put her arm around the rookie’s neck and slammed her down the court.

Reese, who was making her first home run after being selected No. 7 overall by the Sky out of Louisiana, grabbed her head and then her back after getting up.

Thomas received a flagrant foul 2 and was ejected from the game.

Reese made two free throws and was substituted, but returned for the fourth quarter. She finished with 13 points to tie her season best, but had no points in the fourth quarter.

Reese said after the game that she had no hard feelings toward Thomas and did not believe the Sun player’s actions were intentional.

“They’re not supposed to be nice to me or lie down because I’m Angel Reese or I’m a newbie.” She said. “Thank you AT for sending me a message because I’m back and moving forward.”

Thomas, a four-time WNBA All-Star, was coming off back-to-back double-doubles. She had nine points when she left the game.

Connecticut won 86-82 To improve for 5-0.
