Saturday’s Warriors defeated the Grizzlies 142-112 to take the group lead 2-1. However, the tension in the game continued after the last trumpet blew.
Ja Morant had to leave the match due to a knee injury he apparently suffered when Warriors goalkeeper Jordan Bull grabbed Morant’s knee while running for the ball. After the match, Morant twitter deleted a tweet that showed he was unhappy with the Warriors.
“Break the code,” he wrote on Twitter.
“code” It is a reference to Steve Kerr’s reaction to Dillon Brooks’ ruthless foul on Gary Payton II in Game Two. After that match, Kerr said that Brooks “Break the code” By polluting the Payton in the atmosphere, the thing Kerr thinks is a dirty play.
Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins spoke about Morant’s play in his post-game press conference, and confirmed that Paul’s snatching was what exacerbated Morant’s injury.
Jenkins said via ESPN’s Om Youngmisuk. “He was chasing a dribble and Jordan Bull actually grabbed his knee and pulled it, which caused it all to happen, so I’m going to be very curious about what happens next.”

However, Jenkins stopped short of saying he thought it was intentional.
“I don’t know what you guys have in mind. No, I didn’t say it was done on purpose. I said the play happened,” he said. “There was a snatch. I’m just curious what happened.”
When Paul was asked what happened, he said it was just a “basketball game,” and he would never try to intentionally hurt another player.
“I mean, you obviously don’t want to see anyone get hurt. I’m not even that kind of player. I respect everyone,” he said. “I hope he gets better, you know, we can see him in the next game. I don’t really play like that. This is not my type [of] Game.”
After a day off, the Warriors and the Grizzlies will resume their series in San Francisco on Monday night, though it’s too soon to know Morant’s condition for that game.
