Chris Rock will talk about slapping Will Smith with the Oscars on his Netflix live show

Chris Rock will talk about slapping Will Smith with the Oscars on his Netflix live show

(CNN) Chris Rock will respond the way he does it best – on stage.

The legendary comedian is set to premiere a live special on Netflix March 4, where he will chat with Will Smith. Slapping him at the Academy Awards, according to Netflix.

While Rock alluded to the incident in brief quips on his stand-up shows over the past year, he’ll be addressing it at length for the first time.

The news was first reported by Wall Street Journal.

The rocker prepped the material for the special in January during an arena show in Charleston, where he was on the bill with Dave Chappelle. Dressed all in white, Smith addressed the now-infamous moment about a third of the way through his set, according to a source present who spoke with CNN.

Rock spoke of the collective outrage after the Oscars incident and made several jokes.

Will Smith, right, bumps into presenter Chris Rock on stage as he presents the award for Best Documentary Feature at the Academy Awards on March 27, 2022.

“The thing people want to know…was it hurt? Hell yeah it hurt. He played Muhammad Ali! I played Pookie (in ‘New Jack City’). Even in animated movies, I’m a zebra, a shark.” It hit me hard, and I heard ‘Summer’ ringing in my ears,” Rock joked, according to the source.

In another line, Rock talks about the size difference between the two men.

“Will Smith is a big guy, and I’m not,” Rock said. “Will Smith is shirtless in his movies. If you see me in a movie doing open-heart surgery, I’ll wear a jacket.”
