“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder” or so the saying goes. One’s taste in art and design is completely subjective as well. This fact has been driven home with the controversy surrounding an LED lighting display in Durham, North Carolina USA. The city commissioned renowned artist Jaume Plensa to build a city plaza on Fayeteville street in downtown Raleigh. The council voted against the proposed project Tuesday, but indicated it was open to new ideas from the artist as long as they meet certain design parameters.
