Chinese police on Monday intercepted a truck carrying 386 dogs that were to be killed at a dog meat festival in the southern city of Yulin, according to the charity Human Society International.

A group of activists who saw the vehicle transporting the animals on the highway about 805 kilometers from Yulin informed the authorities. Agents stopped the traffic and seized the dogs, which were kept in metal cages.

He was arrested on a charge of allegedly violating national law relating to the prevention of infection. However, the annual festival kicked off on Tuesday, June 21st and continues with its schedule.
