Her ex-wife came to the house of a relative and agreed, but in the middle of everything there was an argument and she wanted to leave, but he would not let her.

A Tennessee woman who was allegedly abducted by her ex-boyfriend has been rescued after she warned the store cashier using the popular Dictok distress signal.

When the Hickman County woman went to visit her brother last Sunday, her ex-partner, 31-year-old Jonathan Smith, arrived. According to local Tennessee media, she first agreed to go with him and got into his vehicle.

“They had a physical collision,” said Mike Dodo, an official with the Hickman Sheriff’s Office, while the man was driving. The woman told him to get out of the vehicle, he refused and threatened to grab a screwdriver and kill her, the officer explained, “if you can’t get him, no one can get her.”

Smith started driving carelessly before stopping at a gas station. The two got out of the car and went into the grocery store.

According to Dodo, the woman stretched out her palm, bent her thumb, covered all four fingers, and gestured to the local cashier. The employee understood the message and repeated the signal, receiving confirmation from the woman.

This signal was popularized on TikTok as a way to ask for help in situations of domestic violence without warning the abuser.

The staff called the 911 emergency number, while the cashier tried to stop Smith by saying there was something wrong with the register, however, meaning he “realized what was going on” and left with the woman, Dodo said. .

When officers arrived at the scene, they saw the truck coming out of the parking lot. A chase followed about 15 minutes before Smith’s car collided with a stream.

According to police, the occupant tried to flee on foot after the crash, but he was arrested and charged with aggravated abduction and aggravated domestic assault. Meanwhile, the woman was not injured and is safe.
