A group of Indian ninth-graders tied their teacher and a school staff member to a tree and beat them to a tree on Monday in retaliation for failing a practical exam, local media reported.
Maths teacher Suman Kumar and employee Sonaram Chaure of a school in the state of Jharkhand complained that they were tied up and assaulted on the instructions of the headmaster. Enraged by this, the students also broke the chair. A report has been duly registered against the director and 11 students, said local police chief Nithyanand Bhokta.
The students complained to the school authorities on the spot that the teacher gave them unfairly low marks in the examination. As a result, 11 of the total 36 students failed the course. Additionally, he did not give them any explanation and then the director and Chaure refused to accept his request.
On his part, Suman Kumar explained that the students had complained that they had called for a meeting and that it was not consistent with their marks. “This happened because his marks in the road test were not included in the final results. It should be done by the director. So we could not take any action,” the professor explained.
