Kirby split last season via High- and Double-A, with a 2.53 ERA and 5.33 walking-strike ratio. It’s more than just a statistical wonder. He increased his speed without sacrificing control (he walked less than two strokes in nine rounds as a pro) or the breadth of his arsenal. The combination of things and polish should allow him to become the first of the few upcoming Arms to make his Mariners debut.
