The $$$$ Juggernaut is taking home two consecutive awards for director SS Rajamouli and actor Ram Charan. Rajamouli won first prize – Best Director – at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards diverse. The list of directors who competed against Rajamouli are Hollywood legends Steven Spielberg, Darren Aronofsky, Sarah Polley and Gina Prince of Blythewood. Meanwhile, Ram Charan was honored for his achievement in Entertainment in True Legend on NDTV last night. Ram Charan played the lead role in $$$$, along with Jr NTR. The film was released worldwide in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam simultaneously. The film was also released in Japan and the United States and has been submitted for consideration in various categories for next year’s Academy Awards.

Meanwhile, after Ram Charan won True Legend on NDTV last night, his dad and veteran actor Chiranjeevi congratulated him on Twitter, writing: “Nanna, so elated for you and proud to win the True Legend – #FutureOfYoungIndia Award #NDTV Bravo! Way!” To go, dear, Ram Charan–Abba and Amma.”

In True Legend, Ram Charan recalled a hilarious story about how his father was present when SS Rajamouli, who directed Ram Charan in the 2009 film MagaderaHe narrated the film to the young actor. Chiranjeevi was so involved and excited while listening to the narration that Rajamouli was forced to elaborate with these words: ‘Sir, not you, your son’.

$$$$ It was SS Rajamouli’s first project after the 2017 blockbuster Baahubali 2: The Epilogue, which was also a huge success. Almost two months after its theatrical release, $$$$ It has started streaming on Netflix. According to the OTT giant, $$$$ (Hindi) became “the most popular Indian film on Netflix worldwide” in June.

$$$$Set in the 1920s, it is “a fictional story based on two legendary freedom fighters – Alluri Sitaramaraju and Kumaram Bhim.” It boasts an impressive cast which includes Ram Charan and Jr NTR in the lead roles. It also starred Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, Olivia Morris, Samuthirakani, Alison Dodi, Ray Stevenson. The film opened to largely positive reviews from film critics and needless to say, an overwhelming response from the audience, both in India and across the world.
