Ohio State long snapper Mason Arnold enters the transfer gate

The Buckeyes are starting long snappers to finish the season, a program spokesperson confirmed, entering the transfer gate after Ohio State’s loss in the Peach Bowl. Eleven Warriors Sunday.

A native of Tampa, Florida, Arnold was an unranked recruit at Carrollwood High Day School but was rated the No. 6 long snapper by Kornblue Kicking in the class of 2021. His career began at Ohio State when he became an invite-on walk-on to the team prior to Fall camp last season.

After veteran Bradley Robinson suffered a season-ending knee injury in the team’s Week 8 game with Iowa State, Arnold was pushed into a starting role at Ohio State. He appeared in the last six games of the Buckeyes’ 2022 season, including the team’s 42-41 loss to Georgia in the College Football Playoff game on New Year’s Eve.

Ferelman’s addition to the specialist room would have given Ohio State three long snappers on the 2023 roster, as the Phoenix, Arizona native is set to accompany Arnold and teammates Max Lomonico at the position, with all three players being sophomores with three years of eligibility remaining.
