Pelosi’s flight was followed live by the media around the world, and after this Tuesday morning, Chinese officials once again warned of a dangerous precedent for the arrival of a third American power.
China’s foreign ministry vowed that it was “difficult to imagine a more reckless and provocative act” by the US than the visit, against which the Chinese military recently warned it would “not stand idly by”.
Our delegation to Taiwan values ββthe United States’ unwavering commitment to supporting Taiwan’s vibrant democracy.
Our discussions with the Taiwanese leadership reaffirm our support for our partner and advance our shared interests, including advancing a free and open Indo-Pacific region.

Although it was not part of Pelosi’s official agenda, distributed before she left the US for her tour of four Asian countries (not including Taiwan), the House of Representatives spokeswoman is expected to meet with the head of government. Taiwan’s President, as the West calls him, is Tsai Ing-wen.
Pelosi’s trip to China will break the policy of “strategic ambiguity” used by the United States until now, whereby it has continued to recognize China’s sovereignty over Taiwan as long as there is a single China. Arms and economic support.
In a statement released after her arrival in Taipei, Pelosi said, “Her visit is one of several congressional delegations to Taiwan and is in no way inconsistent with long-standing US policy guided by the Taiwan Relations Act of 1979, the US-China Joint Statement, and the United States continues to oppose unilateral attempts to change the status quo of the Six Guarantees.”

Several days ago, in a telephone conversation between Chinese and US presidents Xi Jinping and Joe Biden, respectively, the former warned against “playing with fire” regarding Taiwan.
It is the first time a US Speaker of the House has visited Taiwan since Republican Newt Gingrich visited Taiwan in 1997.
China rejects Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan and blames the US for its consequences
Later, the Chinese Foreign Ministry issued a statement saying that Pelosi had seriously violated China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, seriously undermined the peace and stability of the Taiwan Strait, and sent a serious wrong signal to separatist forces.
According to the statement, the Chinese side strongly opposes and strongly condemns the visit because “there is only one China in the world, Taiwan is an inalienable part of China’s territory, and the government of the People’s Republic of China is the only legitimate government representing all of China.”
China has always opposed US congressmen visiting Taiwan and says the US administration is responsible for preventing it. The Foreign Ministry says Pelosi’s visit is “a major political provocation to intensify official exchanges between the United States and Taiwan in any form and for any reason. China will never accept it, and the Chinese people will never accept it.”
Likewise, in response to Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan, China announced that it would take all necessary measures to resolutely safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity. It accuses the current situation of further “following further and further down a dangerous path”.
