Lisa Kudrow Denies Jennifer Aniston’s ‘Friends’ Claims

Lisa Kudrow has made her feelings about having a live studio audience clear, after former co-star Jennifer Aniston commented on her own experience while filming “Friends.”

Aniston, 55, said Kudrow, 60, “hates” the way the live audience laughs during jokes while filming the beloved show.

“No, that’s not exactly… no, no,” said Kudrow. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight,“It bothered me if they laughed for too long.”

During her sit-down with “Abbott Elementary” star Quinta Brunson for “Variety”Representatives of representativesAniston claimed that Kudrow said after the audience burst into laughter: “I’m not done yet! This isn’t even that funny!”

“God bless them. They were so excited to be there that sometimes the laughter was longer than they would have laughed at anything else,” Kudrow told ET. “I said, ‘Well, take it easy. It’s not that funny. There’s more to say!'”

The sitcom aired on NBC from 1994 to 2004 and ran for 10 seasons. Kudrow landed the role of Phoebe Buffay after impressing the cast of “Friends” with her guest role on NBC’s “Mad About You.”

The “Booksmart” actress hasn’t watched the show since it ended. But after her former co-star Matthew Perry died in October 2023, she said rewatching “Friends” was a tribute to him.

Kudrow is set to star in the new Apple TV+ series “Time Bandits,” an adaptation of Terry Gilliam’s 1981 fantasy film. The series is created by Taika Waititi, Jemaine Clement and Ian Morris.

“Taika called me and said, ‘Jimin and I wrote this thing. We’re filming in New Zealand. Would you consider doing it?’ And I said, ‘Yes! Why would I turn you down?’” Kudrow said.

The show revolves around a group of thieves and their new recruit, as they travel through time and space to find riches.

Dressed in pirate-inspired costumes, Kudrow plays Penelope, the leader of a group of time-traveling adventurers. Along with Kudrow, Kal-El Tuck, Sarah Darken, and Tadhg Murphy join the cast.

“I loved it!” she said in awe. “I think this was one of the most comfortable outfits I’ve ever worn in my life. I’m not kidding.”

For Kudrow, starring in “Time Bandits” is the perfect blend of all the story elements she enjoys herself.

“Time travel? I love it! And I love history. I’m a bit of a history buff,” she said. “It’s a lot of fun.”

The 10-episode series is scheduled to premiere on July 24 with two episodes, with two episodes airing every Wednesday.
