“That’s what I decided. Are you ready? It’s really hard to sell a book,” Ripa added. “And that’s like the third week of the book, right? And I mean, honestly, I’m not going to lie, I haven’t been reading any headlines anywhere. And all of a sudden all of these headlines came out and there was all this interest in a book. Riba continued, “My final comment is, thank you. I mean, it’s really hard to draw attention to a book that’s been out for two weeks and now it’s week two and week two in The New York Times Best Sellers List. Ripa called it a “mystery” whether or not the response was public about Gifford.

“Again, I didn’t watch the interview, so I tend to, like, not go into deep dives about things I can’t comment on because I haven’t seen it,” Ripa said. “Theoretically, should someone correct the record in real time? Or shouldn’t I even, you know, comment on it because that’s the thing—it’s like I’m talking to people who have read the book. I knew writing a book would open me up all kinds of criticism, right? But the people who have read the book have a completely different view of those chapters because they have read the book.”

Riba called herself “a big guy with freedom of speech.”

“I think we should all be able to talk,” she continued. “No one should read every book on earth. The comments I received about those chapters were overwhelmingly positive and the people who read the book took a lot of positivity from it. Ironically, this is the chapter where I talk about what I do in these situations? Do I develop a media narrative? Using clickbait and all that stuff? Or just drop it?”

“I can’t imagine that this friendship ever existed [with Regis] Which people conjure – though… I know he loved and respected what I did on air. Really fun. “
