Gustavo Pedro reshuffled his cabinet

Eight new officials were appointed by the Colombian president.

Colombia’s President Gustavo Pedro has announced the names of the new cabinet ministers.

According to the president, despite the rejection of some traditional political leaders and the establishment, the millions of Colombians who voted in the last elections will continue to work for social change.

The new government is committed to seeking better living conditions for all citizens, and for this a new cabinet has been formed to help coordinate the government’s plan.

Among the new ministers, Ricardo Bonilla as the new finance minister, Jennifer Mojica as the new agriculture minister and Luis Fernando Velasco as the interior minister stand out.

Here is the complete list:

Ricardo Bonilla will be sworn in as the new finance minister.
Jennifer Mojica will be sworn in as the new Minister of Agriculture.
Luis Fernando Velasco will be the Minister of the Interior.
Guillermo Alfonso Jaramillo will be the Minister of Health.
Yesenia Olaya will be the Minister of Science.
Maurizio Liscano will be the ICT Minister.
William Camargo will be the Minister of Transport.
Carlos Ramon Gonzalez will be the director of the department

Finally, the President lauded the commitment and work of the tenured ministers who helped initiate the basic programs of this government.

He asked everyone to resign

Earlier in the hour, Pedro demanded the resignation of all ministers after the three governing parties in Congress – the Liberal Party, the Conservative Party and the U Party – did not support the health reform.

“The majority-agreed political coalition has ended today with the decision of some party leaders, some of whom threaten the majority of their own bench,” President Pedro wrote on his Twitter account at midnight on Tuesday.

A few hours earlier, from a municipality located in the department of Valle del Cauca, President Pedro said that the emergency government “must be established now”.

In the same speech, the President explained that the emergency government needs officers who work day and night and “have a heart to support the humble people and not simply to earn salaries and commissions.”
