Government Increases Resentment of Venezuelan Immigrants
Lime.- This Wednesday Peru’s President Tina Polwarte blamed immigrants for the crime plaguing her country. They are the ones “unfortunately committing crimes,” he assured.

“Every day you spread (…) that foreigners are the ones who commit attacks, robberies and other crimes every day, that’s why we need to reform the immigration law, look at this migration problem ( .. ..) 800,000 Venezuelans, many Haitians, have entered, and they are the ones unfortunately doing these things,” Boluarte emphasized.

During that time, he promised that then-President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski (2016-2018) would “allow free entry through northern Peru” to immigrants, and according to his data, the 800,000 immigrants he accused of crime at the time.

“That is why we must talk almost in unison about migrations with the insecurity of citizens,” the Peruvian president stressed.

Not long ago, at the same conference, he explained that his government had declared a state of emergency in all border areas with Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil and Chile to increase “control of foreign nationals” in the country.
