Apple today releases a new round of software updates for its mobile devices. This includes iOS 15.4.1 for all supported iPhones, as well as iPadOS 15.4.1 for all supported tablets. As the number increased strongly, this is a minor release that does not bring any new features.
However, the goal is to improve something we bet extremely important to most people: battery life. This is because the release notes indicate that when you install this update, your iPhone or iPad will fix battery drain issues that were apparently introduced with the release of iOS 15.4 two weeks ago.
Additionally, you also get a fix because braille devices become unresponsive while navigating through text or displaying an alert, and a fix for iPhone made hearing devices losing connection within some third-party apps. There may also be other unnamed bug fixes and various performance improvements, but the headline here is obviously about fixing battery drain.
So if your iPhone or iPad seems really hungry after updating iOS or iPadOS 15.4, you may want to head to Settings and install iOS 15.4.1 or iPadOS 15.4.1 as soon as possible.
