AMD’s Ryzen 9 7950X, Zen 4’s flagship CPU, will deliver an insanely high clock speed of 5.85GHz, nearly 1GHz more than the Zen 3 5950X.

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X will be a beast in clock speeds, Zen 4 “Persephone” cores can clock up to 5.85GHz

Latest details of AMD’s flagship Ryzen 9 7950X CPU come from “Venom Warlock MarvinIn Weibo (via HXL). The user appears to have gotten his hands on a retail sample which according to him isn’t even the top container, but he did mention that the chip can achieve a maximum of 5.85GHz to boost the clock speed. Angstronomics was the first to refer to these as “F-Max” watches a while ago which we’ve covered here. With PBO & XFR enabled, the chip can achieve a faster clock speed.

In addition, the leaker is reporting the codenames of the CCDs for the AMD Ryzen 7000 CPU and core. Raphael “Ryzen 7000” CPUs will contain up to two “Durango” CCDs and each CCD will have a total of 8 “Persephone” Zen 4 cores. The block diagram shows that each CCD features a large capacity L3 cache. 32MB and a GMI3 interface on each CCD that connects it to an IOD (IO Die) which will use a 6nm process node.

Starting with the flagship of them all, we have the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X that retains 16 cores and 32 threads from the previous two generations. The CPU will feature an impressive base frequency of 4.5GHz and a boost clock of 5.7GHz, making it 200MHz faster than the Intel Alder Lake Core i9-12900KS processor that has a 5.5GHz boost clock on a single core.

It looks like AMD extracting every ounce of Hertz could be on the order of 170W TDP (230W PPT) for the Ryzen 9 chips. As for the cache, the CPU comes with 80MB of that including 64MB of L3 (32MB per CCD). ) and 16MB of L2 (1MB per core).

The AMD Ryzen 7 7700X “Zen 4” CPU will be launched along with the rest of the lineup next month. AMD is also planning to do a file Full disclosure tomorrow.
