AMD Ryzen 7000 Desktop Processor So far they’ve popped up at pretty crazy frequencies, up to 5.5GHz on multiple threads. But it looks like the final revision may offer higher CPU hours as reported angstronomy.
AMD Ryzen 7000 ‘Raphael’ desktop CPUs are claimed to have a maximum ‘Fmax’ frequency of 5.85GHz
Earlier this week, AMD patched confirmed Some additional details regarding the Ryzen 7000 CPU lineup, codenamed Raphael. The company has confirmed that the TDP of the best Ryzen 7000 processors will already be 170W and that the maximum packet power for the AM5 socket (LGA 1718) will be rated at 230W. The company also confirmed The gaming demo shown during Computex 2022 was of a 16-core prototype that was running at 5.5GHz across multiple threads. But the company also, and more importantly, confirmed that the prototype was operating in an operating range lower than the new 170W TDP specification.
The Computex processor was a 16-core prototype that was not yet integrated with specific Power/TDP values, but it ran at a lower range than our new 170W TDP range. She is a conservative figure.
So we know that the AMD Ryzen 7000 Computex 2022 demo wasn’t a single thread clock speed demo and wasn’t even a final prototype that was using the full 170W TDP spec. Based on a report from Angstronomics sources, there appears to be an integrated SKU (or OPN) with a 5.85 GHz Fmax or maximum frequency.
In terms of frequency targets, the game demo showing maximum frequencies of 5.55GHz was also not with the final release. While Angstronomics Aware Order Part Number (OPN) Built-in 5.85GHz FmaxWe’ll have to wait and see what the retail grader valves will be set for.
5.85GHz is a crazy clock but considering we only saw our first look at a prototype AMD Ryzen 7000 Desktop CPU, the final specs might be within that range. The 16-core part that uses the full 170 watts available to it may be able to surpass 5.5GHz clocks and deliver clock speeds not seen before on an AMD Ryzen CPU. Intel also aims to create similar watches with Raptor Lake-S Desktop CPUs So it makes sense that AMD would come head-to-head with the blue team in the watches department, somewhere where they have lagged behind over the past two years.
We’re already excited to see 5.5GHz clocks for AMD Ryzen 7000 desktop CPUs, so anything above will be a treat for consumers looking to build a brand new AM5 PC with the latest Ryzen 7000 desktop Zen 4 processors. These frequencies are only on the highest spectrum for AM5 boards like those based on the X670E chipset with plenty of VRMs to handle the power delivery requirements of the new Fmax specification.
