Zumtobel Wins Award for Short Film Ad about its Soon-to-be-released Emergency Lighting System

Zumtobel of Dornbirn, Austria, has created an award-winning ad for its  RESCLITE PRO. The film that the company produced combines elements of suspense and horror movies with an eerie setting in a dark staircase. The ad focuses on a woman who appears to be wearing an emergency life preserver around her neck. She first seems uncertain what to do and where to go as she sits in the dimly lit stairwell. Then the emergency exit lighting system “guides” her up the staircase to an open doorway that leads outside into a rustic area.

The company was awarded the Golden Dolphin at the Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards for the dramatic short film advertisement. The jury for the contest included a list of distinguished producers, directors, scientists, film specialists, and marketing experts. They were impressed by the style of the Zumtobel entry. The jury this year went through more than 1000 submissions to select gold, silver, black, blue and white winners of the Dolphin trophies.

Ad Shows Dramatic Story with Actual Product Benefits

“The story is told in a visual design language that – alongside the actual product benefits – incorporates an additional level to demonstrate the aesthetic approach of the Zumtobel brand to its products. This shows how an emergency luminaire can be presented as a design object, which appeals perfectly to the specific target group,” explained Daniel Philipp, managing director and executive producer of Panda Pictures GmbH.

The film, which Stillrolling PRODUCTIONS of Stuttgart produced, claimed a prize in the “A2 Marketing Films – B2B” category. The Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards are presented each year by Filmservice International.

In stark (and welcome) contrast, the ad shows how good emergency lighting from the RESCLITE Pro provides safety and orientation. A moderate number of light-points illuminate the entire stairway and all the escape routes, thereby lighting the way to safety. The award-winning ad film was created to promote the launch of Zumtobel`s RESCLITE PRO emergency lighting portfolio scheduled for April 2018. The ad film also showed how the LED spots of the RESCLITE PRO system can guide people to safety in the event of an emergency.

App Manages RESCLITE Pro

Zumtobel says that RESCLITE PRO features a range of variants with precisely optimized optics that can be adapted to suit the respective spatial environment and its particular requirements. Also, with the new PROset technology from ZGS (Zumtobel Group Services), RESCLITE PRO can now be directly addressed and configured using an app. An NFC (Near Field Communication) interface enables the setting of dimming values and the selection of various types of switch modes, including continuous or standby light. The company points out that even the maintenance of the emergency lighting installation can be managed via the interface.
