Zumtobel Group forms Partnership with German Football (soccer) Team Borussia Dortmund

The Zumtobel Group of Dornbirn, Austria and Borussia Dortmund (BVB) of
Dortmund, Germany have signed a partnership agreement. Ulrich Schumacher, CEO
of the Zumtobel Group and Hans-Joachim Watzke, chairman of the board of the
Borussia Dortmund management company announced the deal in the context of the
2014 DFL Super Cup. Zumtobel says that the five-year partnership will be shaped
its two lighting brands, Thorn and Zumtobel. Along with various lighting
projects, the partnership will include customer programs aimed at wholesale
dealers, electricians, and electrical planners of both brands.

“We are targeting significant growth in the German-speaking markets. In
Borussia Dortmund we now have a strong partner at our side. This partnership
will provide the ideal context in which to make the most of our strategic
multi-brand approach,”
said Zumtobel Group CEO Ulrich Schumacher.
“Thorn is the global leader in the high quality illumination of
infrastructure, including major sports stadiums. Together they make the perfect
combination to offer Borussia Dortmund customised, benchmark lighting solutions
to meet all of the club’s requirements.”

Part of the partnership involves customer programs which began on 1 July
2014 that aim to increase customer loyalty to Zumtobel and Thorn brands and
boost revenues. Zumtobel says that the brands’ sales partners will benefit from
an attractive package designed around attendance at one of Borussia Dortmund’s
home games in the Bundesliga.

Zumtobel illuminated BVB FanWorld facility in Dortmund, which covers over
2,000 square metres of floor space. The company an LED lighting concept that
creates an attractive atmosphere for the black and yellow FanWorld. Thorn
products are expected to play a key role in further projects that will
follow.
