Soraa a Fremont, California-based pioneer in violet-LED based full spectrum lighting, announced the expansion of its collaboration program for its patented white light disinfection technology. Soraa is apparently looking for additional collaborators to not just license its patents, but to work together to make products with its white light disinfection technology. The disinfection technology uses Soraa’s violet LEDs, which Soraa says can be used to deliver a disinfecting action while also providing natural white light.
For the collaboration program announcement, Jeff Parker, Chief Executive Officer of Soraa, cited Soraa’s broad portfolio of patents in the field of bactericidal LEDs used for white light generation and disinfection. This patent portfolio includes patents dating back to at least 2009. Soraa points out that the program is further bolstered by the company’s recent acquisition of certain foundational GE patents related to GaN LEDs, dating back to as early as 2001.
“We are extremely proud of our early inventions in this space, and are actively engaged in collaborations with key players in the field that will leverage our expertise with violet LEDs,” said Parker. “These unique lighting solutions give us the ability to help usher in a new era of ‘white light’ disinfection in an effort to create healthier environments.”
