Silvair, a maker of Bluetooth-based smart lighting solutions and EnOcean GmbH, a creator of energy harvesting wireless technologies for building automation, announced a collaboration to develop self-powered lighting controls and multifunctional sensors. The joint effort intends to combine EnOcean GmbH’s energy harvesting technology with Silvair’s Bluetooth mesh networking connectivity. Such energy harvesting technology is said to enable seamless installation and maintenance-free operation.
Under the terms of the agreement, Silvair will supply a wireless communication engine known as its Mesh Stack that allows the use of wireless sensors and switches in robust and fully scalable mesh lighting networks. Silvair created this Bluetooth-based mesh networking solution to enable low-latency wireless communication even in high-density lighting networks that employ sensors improve efficiencies.
Following its adoption, the mesh networking solution can be updated over-the-air to become compliant with the upcoming Bluetooth Mesh standard. Bluetooth Mesh boasts unmatched scalability, wire-like reliability, guaranteed cross-vendor interoperability, and support for innovative location-based services.
Silvair plans to deliver the first full-stack Bluetooth Mesh implementation that enables simple incorporation for lighting manufacturers of fully interoperable mesh networking technology.
