Signify (formerly known as Philips Lighting), announced Interact Pro, the latest addition to its Interact IoT-ready portfolio. The company says that the Interact Pro is the first multitasking, smart lighting system, and software developed for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Last year, systems and services represented more than EUR 900 million in sales and a comparable sales growth of 51%. Signify believes that Interact Pro enables it to continue this growth and extend IoT-ready offerings to new customer segments.
Interact Pro is an app and dashboard that lets SMEs control and manage their lighting. According to Signify, the app enables businesses to work smarter while reducing energy consumption and aiding the productivity and well-being of employees. The Interact Pro app works seamlessly with Interact Ready lamps, luminaires, and sensors from Philips. The system gives employees the ability to select the best light to suit their eyesight, tasks, and the time of day.
According to Lighting Europe’s 2016 annual report, people spend about 90% of their lives in buildings, making indoor lighting an essential consideration, particularly in the workplace. Signify contends that Interact Pro can create an appealing work environment to attract and retain the best talent.
“Good lighting conditions can help improve people’s mood and comfort, while giving them control over their environment increases employee satisfaction and productivity,” said James Gubbins, owner of SME, Pelling Marketing By Design in Farnham in the south-east of England. “This is exactly what we’re experiencing in our office where we’re boosting our productivity by using the Interact Pro app on our smartphones. For example, employees can personalize lighting in their own workspace while sensors in our staff kitchen automatically turn off lights when no one is there. Overall, this has reduced our energy costs by almost 80%.”
Smart lighting for Offices and Industrial Spaces
Signify created the Interact Pro app for small to mid-sized commercial spaces of up to 1,000m2 in offices and up to 10,000m2 in industrial spaces. The system allows the connecting and managing of up to 200 light points simultaneously. The cloud-connected Interact Pro software includes a web portal, gateway, dashboard, and app through which businesses can control their lighting.
Interact Pro’s lighting sensors automatically detect if someone is present. This occupancy detection triggers the lights to switch on and then dims the lights when they leave, thereby reducing energy consumption. Also, the sensors automatically detect the level of daylight and adjust the light accordingly.
The Interact Pro dashboard and app displays data from the connected lighting system. This data enables business owners to make informed decisions about how to manage energy consumption and meet their sustainability targets. In addition, the Interact IoT platform allows push notifications and security updates, so the system keeps itself up to date automatically.
“The internet of things is unlocking unparalleled opportunities when it comes to lighting. We’re pleased to be bringing these opportunities to SMEs through Interact Pro,” said Harsh Chitale, business group leader at Signify. “Increased data and intelligence means that Interact Pro can help SMEs make better decisions about how they make their businesses both more productive and a more pleasant place to work for their staff.”
The software and Philips Interact Ready lamps and luminaires use the Zigbee 3.0 open global wireless standard. Furthermore, Signify says that the app-based set-up enables a faster set up than traditional lighting systems. The company also says that Interact Pro can mix luminaires and lamps in a connected system with the same level of features, including dimming, grouping, and scheduling.
Signify asserts that with Interact Pro lighting professionals can deliver insight-driven, value-added services. The company also says that the system enables them to make positive recommendations to their customers.
When authorized by the SME owner, installers can perform remote diagnostics such as health status checks via the Interact Pro dashboard. According to Signify, these checks enable installers and maintenance staff to easily identify problems with a lighting system.
The company will hold training and demonstrations of the new Interact Pro software around the world and provide support on an ongoing basis. Signify’s Interact Ready range of lamps and luminaires includes panels, downlights, waterproof lights and LED tubes.
