Egypt’s National Army Conference Center in Cairo Gets Lighting System and Data Infrastructure from Philips Lighting

Philips Lighting reported that the new National Army Conference Center in Cairo, Egypt has chosen a lighting system and data infrastructure from Philips Entertainment Lighting for its 1700-capacity main auditorium. The specifiers needed a professional lighting system suitable for a modern, multi-purpose venue. The lighting had to be from a trusted brand with a product catalog that could encompass a complete system solution. LED technology, where possible, was a fundamental necessity, as was technical support during the project.

The team from Philips Lighting worked closely with local specialist installer Egyptian Engineering Projects (known as Quality Egypt), to help meet these demands. Also, Philips Lighting’s sales and technical teams from both EMEA and USA offered comprehensive on-site support to ensure the efficient completion of the installation. The venue owner selected the Engineering Authority – Armed Forces, which worked in close collaboration with Quality Egypt and consultant DMG Technologies.

The new stage lighting system features over 240 Philips Lighting luminaires. Newly installed LED technology includes Philips Selecon PLfresnel1 MkII, PLprofile1 MkII and PLcyc1 MkII luminaires, plus more than 80 LED-based Philips SL Punchlite 220 fixtures.

For the moving lights Non-LEDs were preferred. So, Philips Vari-Lite VL4000 Spot and VL4000 BeamWash were specified as the venue’s main moving lights.

The lighting control infrastructure utilizes a Philips Strand Ethernet data distribution system, with Philips Strand EC21 dimming for the conventional portion of the lighting rig. According to Philips Lighting, the completed system exceeded every requirement including power consumption, output, and performance

“Philips Lighting’s light quality is excellent,” said Eng. Adel Attia, CEO of Quality Egypt. “It enables the theater to be suitable for any kind of application, whether concert, theatre, or conference. In addition to its low energy consumption, it is a solution with a very effective performance.”

Grant Bales-Smith, general manager EMEA, Philips Entertainment Lighting said, “Our broad catalog of professional stage lighting technologies offers a unique choice of solutions for top-end installations of this kind. We are delighted to be the brand of choice for this important and prestigious new venue, in which we have proved that our products are the right choice for similar projects of any scale.”
