July 6, 2010... Larson Electronics reports that it has provided the SPLED-5 LED light to magnlight.com. The LED light is solar powered and has a rechargeable battery. It also has a low light sensor, and a motion sensor.
Larson's solar LED light is designed to deliver small area illumination. The internal lithium ion batteries are recharged by the 8-W solar panel, during daylight. According to Larson, the LED solar light will deliver low lighting for 12 h over an area of 200 square feet.
Larson points out that the light's motion sensor will increase the intensity of the light in an illuminated area, if anybody approaches that area. The solar light can provide 8 h of illumination at high intensity. The LED light measures 16x13 in. and can therefore be attached to a pole, or be surface mounted.
Rob Bresnahan of Larson Electronics’ magnalight.com said that the LED light is appropriate for users who require modest amount of lighting. He further stated that the SPLED-5 rechargeable LED light would be useful in remote utility locations, job site security, and other areas that have minimal access to electric power. Bresnahan also commented that there would be immediate return on investment for users because not only do the bulbs rarely need to be replaced, but also an electrical contractor is not needed for the installation.
