November 18, 2008... From December 4 through 7, 2008, Miami Beach, USA, will be home to the 7th edition of Art Basel Miami Beach, the celebrated international art show.

Zumtobel will attend the fair for the third time and will draw the curtain for trend-setting lighting solutions in art and culture in the Art collectors lounge.

During the show’s five-day run, more than 40,000 art lovers are expected to visit the international art show, where more than 240 selected galleries from 30 countries will be showcasing paintings, drawings, sculptures, installations, photography, editions, and videos. Its list of participants makes Art Basel Miami Beach the most prestigious art show of the Americas. Zumtobel traditionally presents innovative lighting solutions fin the Art collectors lounge.

Art should make an impression, touch people's hearts, be experienced. In order to achieve this, both outstanding exhibition design and appropriate lighting solutions play a major role. At Art Basel in Miami, Zumtobel will demonstrate how to live up to this ambition. Using products that stand out thanks to the highest design and quality standards combined with maximum efficiency, lighting solutions for applications in art and culture will take center stage.

Minimum use of materials - maximum lighting comfort
Using Zumtobel’s multifunctional Supersystem lighting system, complex lighting solutions can be implemented in a design that is reduced to pure functionality. The compact lighting system based on innovative LED technology allows focussed illumination. The system cannot fail to impress on account of its resource-efficient use of materials in combination with lighting comfort of outstanding quality. Recycled aluminium boasting an especially beneficial energy balance is used for the track system and spotlights. Highly efficient LEDs with a service life of approximately 50,000 hours allow energy-saving illumination.

VORTEXX chandelier - The passion of light
A special highlight of the trade fair is the hand-made Vortexx chandelier from the Masterpiece Collection by Zumtobel Lighteriors. Zumtobel implemented this unique lighting sculpture following an idea developed jointly by architect Zaha Hadid and Patrik Schumacher. Vortexx is a perfect symbiosis of organic lines and a surprisingly dynamic modulation of light colours.
This impressive design is based on the vision of an infinite ribbon of light. Its charismatically curved outlines remind the beholder of a double helix and seem like a continuously flowing form – weightless, impulsive and radiant. The vibrant luminosity of the dynamic lighting enhances this impression even further. The chandelier’s light colour changes continuously and barely perceptibly.
