Cree, Inc. announced that it added the new ZR-RK Retrofit Kit to its line of ZR Series troffers. The company claims that the four-part design of the retrofit kit enables installation in just four minutes. Cree created the retrofit kit for lighting applications in which removing old troffers or opening the ceiling plenum is not an option. The new troffer lamps can be mounted in existing fluorescent prismatic and parabolic troffer pans.
The new troffers deliver efficacy of up to 132 lumens per watt (LPW) for dramatically reduced energy costs and a reliability and lifetime that result in greatly reduced maintenance costs. In fact, Cree says that the new troffer offers savings of up to 70 percent compared to T8 fluorescent luminaires. Also, the new series features DesignLights Consortium® (DLC®) Premium 4.1 eligibility. Furthermore, the company says that the ZR-RK Retrofit Kit can also maximize rebates nationwide, lowering upfront costs by as much as 40 percent.
ZR-RK Retrofit Kit Appearance
The new troffer series sports a matte finish and modern optics with an 80 CRI and delivers balanced illumination in a range of lumen and color temperature packages. Also, for projects mixing new fixtures and retrofits, the installed ZR-RK Retrofit Kit looks virtually indistinguishable from a new ZR Series troffer. The company contends that the family of Cree® ZR Series troffers with the ZR-RK retrofit kit offers options for every application need, including high efficiency, color quality, affordability and upgrade flexibility. The ZR-RK comes in 3000K, 3500K, and 4000K color temperatures.
“Cree is committed to making it easier for customers to switch to superior LED lighting with the best solutions for each application,” said David Elien, Cree senior vice president and general manager, lighting. “The new ZR-RK Series LED Troffer Retrofit Kit easily transforms the tired optics and appearance of existing fluorescent troffers with the outstanding energy savings, better light and clean, crisp lines for which the ZR Series is known.”
