Amerlux® has upgraded the performance of the reliable and efficient Hornet
HP A14 LED Engine. The company says that the update to Hornet HP-A14 LED offers
better lumen maintenance and more consistent color rendering compared to
available integrated LED lamps. Also the company increased the lifespan, and
enhanced control and dimmability. According to recent standard LM70 testing of
the 18-watt model at a 3000K CCT, the Hornet HP A-14 LED Light Engine with spot
distribution has greatly improved its the lumen output to 1369 and its lumens
per watt increased to 75lm/W (both 18 percent improvements). The CBCP also
increased 20 percent to more than 12,200 CBCP.

L70 is rated at 50,000 hours, which is more than 10-15 times longer than
halogen and more than three times the life of 20-watt ceramic metal halide
fixture. This gives the light engine lower operating and maintenance costs with
greater energy savings and better lumen maintenance over its life.
The light engine uses LEDs tightly binned to 3 macAdam elipses to minimize
fixture to fixture color variations, the Hornet HP deploys CCTs ranging from
warm 2200K to cool 4000K and CRIs of up to 90-plus that provide consistent
beams free of striations projected heat, and UV/IR radiation, making it optimal
for lighting color or heat sensitive merchandise.
The company offers die-cast aluminum constructed fixtures with no exposed
wiring in Spot, Flood, Wide Flood and Linear Spread light distributions. A
proprietary engineered heat sink and optical housing combine conduction,
convection and radiation elements for optimal passive cooling and superior
thermal management, to maximize luminaire life.
The luminaires offer vertical tilt (0 to 90 degrees) and 360-degree rotation
for precise aiming. The fixtures are available with adapters designed for one-,
two- and three-circuits. They have an electronic constant current LED driver
and can be mounted to a variety of 120-, 240- and 277-volt track systems as
well as on busways and canopies throughout North America and globally.
Accessories include a Double Bezel, which accommodates up to two forms of
media; and a one-inch die cast aluminum Frontal Snoot, which accepts up to two
forms of media. Media cartridges include the Hexcel Louver, Spread Lenses,
Color Filters and Cross Blade for better glare control and cut-off for special
