Amerlux Updates Avista Light Engine

Amerlux of Oakland, New Jersey reports that the new version of its Avista LED retrofit light engine meets new 4.0 standards of the DesignLights Consortium (DLC). In addition to using next-generation LEDs, the company updated the new Avista (AV12) model with advanced optics, a new driver, and a new LED board to achieve the required efficacy.

“Now available for teardrop style luminaires, the Avista LED Retrofit Light Engine brings the efficiency and performance of LED lighting to retrofits or new construction,” said Amerlux CEO and president Chuck Campagna, “With high output and low costs, our Next Generation Avista LED is the perfect choice for almost any outdoor setting. We deliver extraordinary exteriors.”

The upgraded Avista consumes up to 68 and has lumen output up to 7500. With a diameter of just 6.85 inches, the new LED engine comes in standard CCTs of 2700K, 3000K and 4000K. It is also available with custom color temperatures, and it features one of three horizontal light distributions (Symmetric, Asymmetric, or Street Optic).

Luxeon High Power

“Utilizing powerful, energy efficient long lasting LEDs perfect for traditional post top and other outdoor fixtures, the Next Generation Avista provides optimal illumination for street lighting, parks, pedestrian walkways, recreational areas, parking lots, schools, and municipalities,” continued Mr. Campagna. “Avista has an IP66 sealed LED chamber and optics developed to meet critical lighting/power budgets and energy code compliance.”

Amerlux designed the LED engine to maximize light output on the ground or other surfaces. Furthermore, the company created the light engine with exact center beam candle power (CBCP), to provide the precise foot-candles for exterior lighting applications. The device also features automatic AC incoming voltage sensing as well as protection from over voltage, short circuits, and surges.

According to Amerlux, an anodized aluminum heat sink helps with its thermal management and stringent efficacy levels. The height of the light engine can be adjusted in the field to accommodate a variety of fixtures. Also, standard post-top and pendant mounting configurations are available, and Multi-fit and custom plates are also available according to specification.

“The right light lets you own the night. Amerlux exterior solutions change the way you see the outdoors, from aesthetic landscape lighting to brilliant floodlights, to architectural post-tops, integrating light and security on a whole new level,” continued Mr. Campagna. “So much happens at night, and you want to see it all, correctly. Color shouldn’t fade with the sun, so we engineer effective visual performance factors into every light, based on venue and uses. At the same time, our products don’t give up lumens into the night sky, so efficiency and cost savings are pivotal.”
