Acuity Brands has developed and intends to market its DTL® DSN intelligent photocontrol.
Silver Spring Networks will manage the wireless network on which Acuity’s DTL® DSN intelligent photocontrol will operate. According to Acuity Brands, this solution gives municipalities and utility companies improved functionality and provides adaptive control of their LED street lighting systems.
LED street lighting can serve as an ideal infrastructure platform for delivering secure and reliable connectivity for smart lighting, smart metering and new Internet of Things (IoT) applications. Therefore, enabling IoT connectivity for smart lighting, smart grid, and future smart city applications lets lighting system operators take advantage of their lighting infrastructure assets.
Acuity Photocontrol Works with Silver Spring Networks IPv6 Networking Platform
Acuity says that this new solution benefits from the reliability and long lifetime the of the DLL Elite™ of its LED-compatible photocontrol. The photocontrol reportedly improves its functionality and combines the lighting solution with the Silver Spring Networks standards-based, IPv6 networking platform and Streelight.
Vision control management software, a cloud-hosted management environment centralizes lighting system monitoring and control and grants access to data through open APIs. The software also brings new value to operators and their customers. Acuity backs the networked lighting control solution with service level agreements and supports it with 24×7 monitoring and over-the-air access to firmware updates.
Acuity points out that through the Silvers Spring Networking platform, the wireless photocontrol features AES256-bit encryption. The device links to a network that supporting over 26 million devices. The company says that the photocontrol sensor, which can connect with multiple smart city devices and applications, delivers real-time, actionable data for business critical needs. Also, access via open APIs helps future-proof the sensor.
