Acuity Brands, Inc. has launched the Atrius™ Spaces, an Internet of Things (IoT) platform service. Atrius Spaces is just a portion of the Atrius platform of IoT solutions from Acuity Brands. According to Acuity, the Atrius Spaces service uses a building’s occupancy data to help customers manage space utilization. Atrius Spaces includes a web application and an application programming interface (API).
The Atrius Spaces platform can be used to allocate and plan for spatial requirements, letting building managers optimize facility operations and budgets. The platform can also help manage the overall building or campus throughout its lifecycle. Atrius Spaces gets data from Atrius Sensory Network (through nLight® lighting controls from Acuity Brands).

The Atrius Spaces interface uses a web application that visually represents real-time usage of spaces. This web app graphically shows occupancy metrics based on historical data. The app can present peak and average space utilization. Optional Map Design and Site Audit services give building managers access to plans for rooms, floors and entire buildings from any standard web browser.
Through the Map Design service, building managers can label the types of spaces used within one or multiple buildings. Then, using the optional Site Audit services, building managers can access occupancy data based upon room, floor, and building plans from a web browser.
API Lets Developers Integrate Service into Customer Tools or Make Their Own Apps
In addition, the Atrius Spaces platform service also offers an API that lets developers easily integrate the service into existing customer tools and dashboards, or create their own applications.

The framework leverages a comprehensive network of smart LED lighting and controls as well as a software platform that can collect, unlock and mold raw data for a broad range of software solutions that can present clear direction for solving critical business challenges.
According to Acuity, Atrius solutions have been deployed across more than 60 million square feet of spaces so far using more than a million nodes.
